PARK CITY BAR ASSOCIATION MEETING
September 16, 1999

1.Meeting called to order
2.Minutes from June 2 and August 12 meetings reviewed and approved
3.Report from Christina Miller regarding And Justice For All Fund Raiser
a.Hosted by Mark Harrington, PC Bar and Rick & Andy Barros
b.PC Bar has been asked to help in mailing out invitations
c.PC Bar hasn't necessarily been asked to make cash contribution,
but we should consider doing so
4.Wendy Faber wants to look into the PC Bar making more donations
a.And Justice For All potential candidate, maybe $1,000, tabled for
discussion at next meeting
b.Possibly Peace House, maybe a Sub-For-Santa around Christmas
c.Scholarship and KPCW seem to be annual regulars, perhaps we could
have 3-4 regular recipients each year
d.Possibly sponsor or co-sponsor a book scholarship at University
of Utah law school with a local tie-in
i.Possibly for student with local tie-in
ii.Possibly co-sponsor with someone else and associate with name
of historical or prominent Park City figure, such as Mary Lehmer
or United Park City Mines
iii.Everyone should give this some thought and do some checking
on possible people/entities to associate with
5.Report on CLE from Alex Natt, and discussion of upcoming CLE
a.Alex needs to coordinate with last year's CLE Director and get
list of all members and their fax numbers
b.Possibly have 6-7 video CLE sessions prior to end of year, with
a marathon session at year-end; Alex to follow-up
6.Discussion of sending newsletter to members
a.Wendy Faber to prepare and send out with input from board and members
b.Advertise upcoming events and hopefully drum up more interest and
participation from members
c.Hopefully have drafted and sent out around October 10
7. Discussion of possible golf event next summer
a. Perhaps later in summer, approximately six months after the CLE
& Ski
b.Park Meadows or Jeremy Ranch possible sites
c.Alex Natt to follow-up
8. CLE & Ski tentatively scheduled for Friday, March 17, 2000
9.Discussion of other potential events for PC Bar
a.Fundraising, CLE and Tuesday Night Bar regular events
b.Possibly do something associated with Law Day on May 1, such as
luncheon and speaker
c.Possibly do something with local schools, such as career days,
assist in mock trials, mentor programs; Christina Miller to follow-up,
but likely need more support and participation from members before
anything significant can be done
10.Need an update on Tuesday Night Bar at next meeting
11.Board meetings will generally be held the first Thursday of each
month at 8:00 a.m. in conference room at Bellmarc Building; next meeting
Thursday, October 7, 1999
12.Annual report to Division of Corporations for PC Bar; Dwayne Vance
to follow-up on obtaining check from Gary Nielsen and filing annual
report
13.Discussion of Fall Social
a.Location: not Deer Valley; Lakota okay; perhaps a new place like
the Blind Dog; Wendy Faber to follow-up with Blind Dog
b.Date: tentatively set for Thursday, October 14 in evening
c.PC Bar to provide hors d'oeuvres and members buy own drinks
14.Brief discussion of status of potential new judicial district and
court houses
15.Discussion of Tesch, Thompson & Vance, LLC judicial complaint
against Judge Brian
a. Private matter with Joe Tesch and his law firm
b. Wendy Faber is uncomfortable with public references to the PC
Bar survey; PC Bar shouldn't be involved and no references to it should
be made
16.Discussion of a garage sale as a potential fundraiser next Summer
17.Discussion of potential activities next July 4
a. Possibly co-sponsor dunking booth with City Council (dunk a lawyer,
dunk a councilman, dunk the mayor, etc.); possibly $1/1 ball or $4/5
balls; jointly decide on charity to benefit and advertise intended
recipient; Christina Miller to follow-up on rental of a dunking booth
b. Possibly have a float in the parade
c. Try to do a community good deed, such as donation, just prior
to July 4, and have a coordinated effort around that time frame
d.Likely not do anything for Law Day on May 1 if a lot of efforts
going towards July 4
The meeting was thereafter adjourned.
