Sean Reyes - Named National Outstanding Young Lawyer

As an update to this post, Sean Reyes has been chosen by the Young Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association to receive the 2006-2007 National Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. The award will be presented to Sean at the February 2008 Midyear Meeting of the American Bar Association in Los Angeles, California.

Sean was selected after the American Bar Association reviewed nominations received from all over the country. The award is presented to a young lawyer who exhibits professional excellence, service to the profession and the bar, service to the community, and/or a reputation for the advancement of legal ethics and professional responsibility.

This is the first year the ABA has presented this award, so it is a special honor to have the first award go to an attorney from Utah.

The Utah State Bar Young Lawyers Division invites all attorneys living and working in Salt Lake County to volunteer their time for the Wills for Heroes pro bono event scheduled for January 17, 2009. Wills for Heroes provides, through volunteer attorneys, wills and other estate planning documents for emergency first responders and their spouses or partners. There are over 100 Salt Lake County first responders and their significant others that will qualify to have Wills for Heroes prepare their free estate planning documents on January 17, 2009.

The YLD will teach you all you need to know to participate in this great volunteer
opportunity – you just need to attend the mandatory training session held 30 minutes prior to the event, and sign up to confirm your intent to volunteer. We need volunteer attorneys for shifts between 3 and 6 hours long.

To sign up to volunteer on January 17, 2009, please visit http://www.utahbar.org/sections/yld/willsforheroes/calendar.html and complete the online sign up form. Please know that you may sign up for multiple shifts or the entire day. REQUIRED TRAINING
All interested attorney volunteers must attend the mandatory pre-event training session, unless you have previously been trained. The training session will be offered from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at 7602 South Jordan Landing Blvd, West Jordan. Attorney volunteers will be trained on the HotDocs® program, receive a primer on basic estate planning, and will qualify for one hour of CLE/NLCLE credit.
