HIRING RANGE: Step 55 ($22.36/hr)

DUTIES: Under supervision of State Law Librarian, develop, implement, and manage a pilot project in two judicial districts to provide self-represented parties information and instruction about law and court procedures. Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Assist self-represented parties by providing information via a telephone help line about the law and court processes, forms, and referrals to sources of legal representation and community assistance.
* Develop, coordinate, and conduct educational outreach and support services for Self-Help Center customers.
* Work with court staff in pilot districts.
* Coordinate Self-Help Center services with community, legal, and related services.
* Report to and participate in meetings of the Standing Committee on Resources for Self Represented Parties.
* Maintain program statistics and prepare a variety of technical, statistical, and narrative reports, correspondence, and other written materials for in-house and public distribution.
* Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school; admitted to practice law in Utah, or will be admitted by motion under Rules Governing the Utah State Bar 14-705 (2007). One year of law practice experience, particularly experience providing legal services to low-income clients, preferred.
Must have working knowledge of Utah law and legal terminology. Requires strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and legal research. Should be able to do basic computer troubleshooting. Must have strong customer service skills, ability to speak and write clearly and effectively, work independently, and communicate with audiences of differing economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds who may be in crisis or under stress. Spanish fluency preferred. Travel required.
