2011 Bar Elections and Spring Convention Award Winners
The 2011 Bar elections begin April 1st. Attorneys with an "Active", "Active Under 3", and "Active Emeritus" license status will receive an email from electionsonline.us. Please vote! Christian Clinger and Lori Nelson have been nominated by the Bar Commission to run for the position of President-elect in 2011-2012 to become President in 2012-2013. Seeking the three open Third Division seats are H. Dickson Burton, John K. Johnson, Eve Furse, and Robert Rice. Please read all the candidates’ statements at: http://www.utahbar.org/elections/. The Bar provides a vital role in leading society in the creation of a justice system that is understood, valued, respected and accessible to all. The Bar represents lawyers in the State of Utah and serves the public and the legal profession by promoting justice, professional excellence, civility, ethics, respect for and understanding of the law. I can attest to the importance of having capable, caring and committed leaders of the Bar and I encourage you to learn about the candidates to make your informed vote.

Finally, I want to congratulate Lauren Scholnik who has been awarded with the Dorathy Merrill Brothers Award for the advancement of women in the legal profession and Nathan D. Alder who was awarded the Raymond S. Uno Award for the advancement of minorities in the legal profession. Each has a long history of professionalism, public service and personal dedication to the building up of the legal profession and the awards were well-deserved.
