2010 Fall Forum - Salt Lake City - November 18 - 19

Make plans to join us at the 2010 Fall Forum the evening of Thursday, November 18th and all day Friday the 19th at the Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City. There are cutting edge breakout sessions and terrific keynote speakers including Sean Carter, a Harvard Law School graduate and humorist who will regale us with his thoughts on legal ethics, stress management, and legal marketing. William J. Chriss is a teacher, author, media commentator, and scholar, holding graduate degrees in law, theology, and political science will speak in defense of the noble lawyer. The early registration deadline is Friday, November 5th. The Fall Forum offers 8.5 Hrs. CLE or NLCLE, including up to 2 hours ethics and 1 hour of professionalism/civility. GRAND COUNTY JUSTICE COURT JUDICIAL VACANCY POSTED

Moab, Utah—Applications are being accepted for a Justice Court judge position in Moab. The position will replace Judge Aubrey E. Holderness who is retiring effective Feb. 7, 2011.

UTAH JUDICIAL COUNCIL MEMBERS NAMED

Salt Lake City, Utah—Utah Supreme Court Justice Jill N. Parrish and 8th District Juvenile Court Judge Larry A. Steele have been elected to the Utah Judicial Council to serve a three-year term beginning Oct. 1, 2010. Justice Parrish and Judge Steele have replaced Justice Ron Nehring and 5th District Juvenile Court Judge Hans Q. Chamberlain who completed their terms.

NOMINEE SELECTED FOR RIVERDALE JUSTICE COURT VACANCY

Riverdale, UT—The City of Riverdale has appointed Judge Reuben Renstrom to fill the city’s Justice Court vacancy. The position will replace Judge Michelle Heward who has resigned effective Oct. 1, 2010, after being appointed to the 2nd District Juvenile Court bench.

UTAH’S JUVENILE COURTS NOW ACCEPTING ONLINE PAYMENTS

Salt Lake City, UT—The Utah State Courts’ Juvenile Courts are now accepting online payments of fines, fees, and restitution statewide through a program called e-payments.

UTAH STATE COURTS EXPANDS SELF-HELP CENTER SERVICES

Center Now Assisting Self-Help Parties in Spanish

Salt Lake City, Utah—The Self-Help Center of the Utah State Courts now offers its services in Spanish. The center assists individuals who are representing themselves in court better understand court processes.
Spanish services are available Tuesday through Thursday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
