St. George, UT---The 5th District Judicial Nominating Commission has scheduled a meeting for June 9, 2010 to select candidates to fill a vacancy in the 5th District Juvenile Court. The vacancy is the result of a newly-created judgeship that was established during the 2010 Legislative Session. The commission will meet at the Washington County Courthouse, 206 West Tabernacle.

The nonprofit organization Liberty Day is working with the Utah State Bar to recruit volunteer attorneys to spend one hour in fifth grade classes on or around Constitution Day, September 17, 2010. Liberty Day will provide teaching materials for you, the teacher, and the kids at $1.00 per student, plus shipping, to be paid by the volunteer lawyer. Liberty Day (www.LibertyDay.org) is a national effort dedicated to providing fifth grade teachers with volunteers and a Complete Educational Resource designed to help them effectively introduce their students to the contents of the U.S. Constitution. This resource consists of a full, succinct lesson plan, a multiple choice assessment, and a booklet consisting of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and 24 perforated Q&A flashcards on the contents of the Constitution. Ogden, UT--The 2nd District Judicial Nominating Commission has selected nominees for four vacancies in the 2nd Judicial District. The 2nd Judicial District is comprised of Davis, Morgan, and Weber counties.

HERRIMAN CITY JUSTICE COURT JUDICIAL VACANCY POSTED

Herriman, Utah—Applications are being accepted for a Justice Court judge position in Herriman City. The position will replace Judge Reed Parkin who has been appointed to the Orem City Justice Court effective Sept. 1, 2010.

HEBER CITY JUSTICE COURT JUDICIAL VACANCY POSTED

Heber, Utah—Applications are being accepted for a Justice Court judge position in Heber City. The position will replace Judge Reed Parkin who has been appointed to the Orem City Justice Court effective Sept. 1, 2010.

Bluffdale, Utah—Applications are being accepted for a Justice Court judge position in Bluffdale City. The position will replace Judge Reed Parkin who has been appointed to the Orem City Justice Court effective Sept. 1, 2010.

To be considered for the position, candidates must be at least 25 years of age, a citizen of the United States, a Utah resident for at least three years, and have earned a high school diploma or GED.
