NEW SPANISH FORK COURTHOUSE SET TO OPEN SEPTEMBER 2
Former Spanish Fork District Court Location to close August 29
Spanish Fork, Utah—A new Spanish Fork Courthouse is scheduled to open at 775 West Center Street on Sept. 2, 2008. The Spanish Fork District Courthouse—currently located at 40 South Main—will close for business on August 29, 2008.
Fourth District Court Judge Howard Maetani and Fourth District Juvenile Court Judge Sterling Sainsbury will be located at the new courthouse.
The 30,000 sq. ft. courthouse—which serves residents of southern Utah County—will house one district and one juvenile courtroom with the capacity for up to four additional courtrooms. The two-story court facility will also house offices for juvenile probation, a public defender, a city attorney, and a guardian ad litem. In addition, the courthouse will include a mediation room and a jury assembly room.
The courthouse is part of the Spanish Fork Municipal building plan that includes an 18,000 sq. ft. facility to house the city’s police department and city attorney. The court has a 20-year lease agreement with the city to occupy the space.
The new courthouse will meet the court’s upgraded security standards, which include appropriate separation between the courthouse’s entrances and exit areas. Ground source heating and cooling have been installed for more efficient use of energy resources.
The architect on the courthouse construction was Edward Daniels Architects and Layton Construction was the contractor.
