MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT V. LOWRY SNOW
New Utah State Bar Lawyer Referral Service

LowerySnow.jpgI am very pleased to announce that beginning July 1, 2008, the Utah State Bar will create a new directory for lawyer referrals. Participation in the introductory "Find a Utah Lawyer Directory" is voluntary and free of charge. The directory will provide potential clients with an on-line listing of each lawyer's name, address, admission date, law school and telephone number within specific geographic areas and practice types as identified by the search criteria. It will include a lawyer's email address only if specifically authorized. Lawyers will be permitted to list up to 5 practice types. You may review the screen for the "Find a Utah Lawyer Directory" and sign up to participate at www.utahbar.org/LRS.

3. NEW Licensing Form Mailed - Watch for your NEW licensing statements in the mail. The licensing form has changed significantly. Please read and complete the licensing form carefully and completely. The licensing statements are due back by June 30, 2008. Online licensing is also available at www.myutahbar.org using your Casemaker login information.

4. Women Lawyers Conducting Survey - Women Lawyers of Utah will circulate an anonymous survey this month to ALL Utah Bar admittees between 1985 and 2005 regarding their work life and career choices. The survey will serve to evaluate issues related to the retention and advancement of women in Utah law firms in conjunction with WLU’s “Initiative on the Advancement and Retention of Women”. This survey is part of a larger initiative to study retention and advancement. Your complete and honest response is crucial to the validity of the survey. Please look for mailings and e-mail on this survey later this month.
