Rules of Civil Procedure
URCP 006. Time. Repeal and reenact. Conforms the computation of time to the days-are-days approach of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Deadlines of less than 30 days in several rules will be extended to a uniform 7/14/21 days. The list of deadlines proposed to be amended is on the website. If Rule 6 is approved, those rules will be amended to change the deadlines as indicated, but the rules will not be published for comment. Deadlines not listed are not proposed to be amended.

SELF-HELP CENTER TO CONTINUE OFFERING SERVICES
Pilot Project to Continue through June 30, 2009
Salt Lake City, Utah— The Utah State Courts’ Self-Help Center pilot project has received additional funding that will allow the program to continue through June 30, 2009. The pilot project—which is underway in the second and eighth judicial districts—assists individuals who are representing themselves in court to better understand court processes. The project was initially scheduled to run through June 20, 2008.

New Utah State Bar Lawyer Referral Service
I am very pleased to announce that beginning July 1, 2008, the Utah State Bar will create a new directory for lawyer referrals. Participation in the introductory "Find a Utah Lawyer Directory" is voluntary and free of charge. The directory will provide potential clients with an on-line listing of each lawyer's name, address, admission date, law school and telephone number within specific geographic areas and practice types as identified by the search criteria. It will include a lawyer's email address only if specifically authorized. Lawyers will be permitted to list up to 5 practice types. You may review the screen for the "Find a Utah Lawyer Directory" and sign up to participate at www.utahbar.org/LRS.

Salt Lake City, UT---The Administrative Office of the Courts has announced that the Utah State Courts will remain open on Fridays for business. The Utah State Court system includes juvenile courts, district courts, and appellate courts, including the Utah Court of Appeals and the Utah Supreme Court. Justice courts throughout the state, which are administered by cities and counties, will also remain open on Friday.
