UTAH STATE COURT JUDGES RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS

Salt Lake City, Utah—Third District Court Judge Denise P. Lindberg and Fourth District Court Judge Claudia Laycock recently attended a workshop titled “No Reversals—Correct Rulings: Evidence in Action,” April 22 through 26 in Carmel, Calif. The judges’ attendance was supported by a $1,500 scholarship each awarded by the State Justice Institute (SJI).

The conference was sponsored by the American Academy of Judicial Education and addressed evidentiary rules in the courtroom.

SJI is a nonprofit organization that was established by federal law to award grants to do the following: improve the quality of justice in state courts nationwide; facilitate better coordination between state and federal courts; and foster innovative, efficient solutions to common problems faced by all courts. For more information on the institute, go to www.statejustice.org.
