2007 Annual Convention - July 18-21 in Sun Valley Idaho

This year's Annual Convention Committee has worked hard to prepare a CLE program that promises interesting learning opportunities for all members of the Bar. The presenters include a diverse group of well-recognized and highly qualified presenters from our own Bar, as well as enlightening and entertaining speakers from around the country. The Thursday morning keynote, the Hon. Dee V. Benson, will shed light on the FISA Court process and his role as one of its eleven members. On the fun side of the Convention will be the annual Family Picnic, hosted by the Young Lawyers Division. Courts Committee on Civil Procedures Discovery Survey

The Utah Courts Committee on Civil Procedures is surveying lawyers in Utah on discovery rules. As the Courts tackle new issues relating to discovery of electronic information and just updating the rules in general, input from lawyers will be very valuable. Free Podcast on New Electronic Discovery Rules

The American Bar Association has released a free 1 hour podcast on the new rules for electronic discovery. On December 1, 2006 the Federal Courts enacted new rules describing how the courts will handle discovery requests for electronic information. E-Discovery has become a very important topic for litigators as the challenges in requesting and producing this type of evidence emerge. This program walks through the new rules exploring the arguments for and against the changes that were made. Access this podcast at: www.abanet.org/cle/podcast/j07nrepod-reg.html

Report on Web-based Primary Legal Resources

The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) is pleased to announce the publication of the State-by-State Report on Authentication of Online Legal Resources. This report includes a state-by-state review of the reliability of state-level primary legal resources on the Web. The comprehensive report examines the results of a survey that investigated whether government-hosted legal resources on the Web are official and capable of being considered authentic.
