2007/2008 Licensing Information
Watch for your 2007/2008 licensing statements coming in the mail soon. These are due back to the Bar by June 30, 2007 as the new licensing year starts July 1st. Some items of interest that relate to the 2007/2008 forms:

- You can process your form online by logging on to www.myutahbar.org beginning June 4, 2007. You will use your standard Casemaker login to access the form. (If you do not have a Casemaker login or cannot remember it you can request an update be sent to your email address of record by visiting www.myutahbar.org/ForgotPassword.aspx or www.utahbar.org/casemaker/request_casemaker.html.)

- Reporting Rules for IOLTA are in place, requiring lawyers to report status and account information. These rules can be found online: www.utcourts.gov/resources/rules/ucja/ch24/.

- A Malpractice Insurance Reporting Requirement is also in place. For your licensing form to be considered complete, you must answer the designated questions regarding your malpractice insurance. A copy of the Court's order on this new rule is available online (PDF): www.utahbar.org/documents/20070143USB_malpractice_order.pdf.

2007 Annual Convention - July 18-21 in Sun Valley, Idaho

Just weeks away is the Utah State Bar 2007 Annual Convention. With an amazing slate of CLE programs and some great family events, you won't want to miss this year's convention. The Friday morning keynote features Michael H. Rubin presenting on "The Ethics of Negotiation: Are There Any?" Mr. Rubin is a nationally known speaker and lawyer from Baton Rouge. NEW THIS YEAR for the entire family will be the Friday night outdoor movie event, as part of the Family Picnic and Carnival. Member Services Updates

Now online is a new and updated Member Services page on the Bar's web site: www.utahbar.org/members/Welcome.html. This page includes a quick Casemaker login, a link to the Member Benefits Site (www.utahbar.org/members/member_benefits.html), information on licensing and other Attorney Services, links to CLE and a free legal forms archive (http://utahbar.lawinfo.com/). You will also find an online job bank where job openings are posted: www.utahbar.org/marketplace/. Watch this page in the future for new and expanded member services.


Summary of Bar Operations Available

The Utah State Bar has released a Summary of Operations for 2007 (PDF) www.utahbar.org/summary_bar_operations07.pdf. This document provides a comprehensive review of all Bar operations. The document covers functions and topics such as; leadership, priorities, bar programs, membership & bar exam statistics and other service offerings. This report provides a convenient way for members and the public to understand the various bar functions and benefits.
