CLE Program – Clarence Darrow – November 9th, 2006
The Bar in its 75th Anniversary Year Presents: Clarence Darrow: Crimes, Causes and the Courtroom - along with their sponsors the Utah State Bar Litigation Section and Solo Small Firm Rural Section, LithoFlexoGraphics, ZDocs Digital Printing and, Iron Mountain on November 9, 2006 at the historic Masonic Temple in Salt Lake City. With the support of their sponsors, this event is priced for 3 ethics hours at 1-2 tickets $45 each, 3-10 tickets $40 each and 11 or more $25 each. This dramatic presentation provides both entertainment and an experience from which to learn... about Clarence Darrow, about social and legal justice, and finally about ourselves and the ethical issues with which we all must wrestle. Casemaker Updates!
Casemaker, the FREE online legal research benefit, is improving and expanding. Beginning in November, Casemaker will be offering a 50 State Library of codes and cases. This library will cover all 50 states back to at least 1950. Also included in the update will be all U.S. Circuit Court opinions back to 1950 and U.S. Supreme Court cases since inception. The Utah State Bar is please to provide this service and excited to announce this valuable, expanded content. Positions Open: Office of Professional Conduct - U.S. District Clerk of Court for Utah
Assistant Counsel – Utah State Bar
A full-time attorney position is available in the Utah State Bar Office of Professional Conduct. Five years of litigation experience is required. The ideal candidate must have strong writing and research skills. A background in the area of attorney ethics is a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience and excellent benefits are included. Clerk of Court – U.S. District Court
The U.S. District Court seeks applications from qualified candidates for the position of Clerk of Court (Clerk). This is a high-level position responsible for managing and administering a federal trial court whose jurisdiction covers the State of Utah. The Clerk is appointed by the judges of the court and serves under the direction of the Chief Judge. The Clerk is responsible for directing the activities of the office of the clerk, currently authorized at 45 professional and clerical positions. Historical Utah Legal Content Now Available
The Utah Legislature recently made the 1895 constitutional convention proceedings available on its website. From the main page (www.le.state.ut.us/), select Utah Code/Constitution and Constitutional Convention. In a related vein, historical territorial Utah codes (1847-1888) have been digitized and are available on the Marriott Library website at http://content.lib.utah.edu/cdm4/browse.php?CISOROOT=/uthisstat.
