COURT COMMISSIONER
Third Judicial District Juvenile Court
$49.52/hr (approximately $103,000/year) plus benefits
Applications are currently being accepted for a Court Commissioner position in the Third District Juvenile Court. The Court Commissioner is a quasi-judicial officer as provided by the Utah Code and the rules of the Judicial Council. This position will assist the Third District Juvenile Court with delinquency hearings, and other duties under the direction of the Presiding Judge as permitted by statute and rule of the Utah Judicial Council. The position must possess ability and experience in the area of juvenile law.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The Court Commissioner must be at least 25 years of age, a citizen of the United States, a resident of Utah for three years preceding appointment, a resident of Utah while serving as Commissioner, a member of the Utah State Bar, and exhibit good character. The Court Commissioner shall reside within the judicial district served (Third Judicial District). The position requires adherence to the Code of Judicial Conduct.
COMPENSATION AND CONDITIONS
Starting Salary: $49.52/hour (approximately $103,000/year) plus benefits
Location: Third District Juvenile Court (Salt Lake, Summit, and Tooele Counties. It is expected that the position will be officed at and hear court at the West Jordan Courthouse)
Merit Status: Exempt

A nominating committee composed in accordance with Utah State statute and rule of the Utah Judicial Council will recommend candidates to the Third District Juvenile Court bench for interviews. Committee members are appointed by the Presiding Judge. The committee will select the three best-qualified candidates for the position. The judges will select one of the nominees and present this recommendation to the Judicial Council for its concurrence. The selection of Court Commissioners shall be based solely upon consideration of fitness for office.
