President-Elect Election Deadline – May 1, 2006

Completed ballots for the President-Elect Election need to be at the Utah State Bar offices by 5:00 p.m. on Monday May 1, 2006 to be counted. The candidates in this election are Felshaw King (King & King) and V. Lowry Snow (Snow Jensen & Reece). Mr. King is from the Second Division of the Bar and Mr. Snow represents the Fifth Division. Newport Beach Annual Convention Registration Options

Online registration is now open for the 2006 Annual Convention being held in beautiful Newport Beach, California, July 12-15. Online registration access is available at: www.utahbar.org/cle/annualconvention/registration.html. Watch for the Convention Brochure, complete with schedule, activities and registration form to go out in the May/June issue of the Utah Bar Journal. This year’s convention is proving to be very popular, so register soon and make sure you have your accommodations secured - www.utahbar.org/cle/annualconvention/accommodations.html.

Third District Court Commissioner Position Available

Applications are currently being accepted for a Court Commissioner position in the Third District and Juvenile Courts. This position will assist the Third District Court with domestic hearings, Third Juvenile Court with delinquency and child welfare hearings. Applicants need to be at least 25 years of age, a US citizen, a resident of Utah for three years preceding appointment, a member of the Utah State Bar and a resident in the Third Judicial District while serving. Applications may be obtained at: Administrative Office of the Courts, HR Department, P.O. Box 140241 Salt Lake City, UT 84114-0241 or at www.utcourts.gov and must be submitted by May 26, 2006, at 5:00 p.m.

Law Day Activities

Bar Seeks ABA Delegate

The Board of Bar Commissioners is seeking applicants to serve a two-year term as the Bar's representative to the American Bar Association's House of Delegates. The term would begin at the conclusion of the ABA's Annual Meeting in August, and run through the August, 2008 Annual Meeting. Please send your letter of application and resume no later than Friday, June 2, 2006 to John C. Judge’s Run – June 16, 2006

The Judge’s Run is a memorial event set for June 16th in honor of Judge Anne Stirba who died from breast cancer in 2001. The race will boast 350-400 participants this year in an effort to raise money to support The American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Research. The race starts at Highland High School at the corner of 21st South and 17th East in Salt Lake City and ends at the Wasatch Presbyterian Church on 1626 South 1700 East. Awards will be given for a diverse group of categories, including all ages and abilities. For complete information: www.judgesrun.com.
