Dear Members of the Utah Bar,
For those of you who did not learn about this in the newspaper or otherwise, I am delighted to report that Hiram Chodosh has been offered and accepted the position of Dean of the S.J. Quinney College of Law. Dean Chodosh generated a huge amount of excitement among every single law school constituency. You can learn more about him from the University’s press release, which is posted on the College of Law website at http://www.law.utah.edu/news/02282006_ChodoshDean.php.
I also want to thank all of you who helped with this search process. The search committee’s bench and bar representatives, Chief Justice Christine Durham and Randy Dryer, were incredibly helpful throughout the process, and devoted a large amount of time despite their other significant responsibilities. Many other members of the bar attended the bench and bar breakfasts and other events, and provided us with candid and useful input as we considered the strengths of each candidate. Thank you all for your assistance in this important process.
We at the College of Law are all looking forward to working with Dean Chodosh as we move into the next phase of the law school’s history. I hope each of you will find some way to take the opportunity to meet him, and to learn about his plans for legal education in Utah. At the same time, we remain deeply indebted to our current dean, Scott Matheson, Jr., for his wonderful accomplishments and for his many years of dedicated service in that capacity.
Sincerely,
Bob Adler
Search Committee Co-Chair
