Online MCLE Compliance Now Available

The Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education is pleased to announce that lawyers can now submit MCLE compliance forms online. You can log in, check your hours, confirm your affidavit and pay your fee all online. If your reporting period ends this December 31, 2005, you should login at: www.myutahbar.org/. (This service uses the same login and password as Casemaker. Notices for Bar Awards and Elections

Spring Convention Awards. The Board of Bar Commissioners is seeking applications for the Dorathy Merrill Brothers and Raymond S. Uno Awards. The Dorathy Merrill Brothers award is for the Advancement of Woman in the Legal Profession. The Raymond S. Uno Award is for the advancement of Minorities in the Legal Profession. Award applications must be submitted in writing to Maud Thurman, Executive Secretary, 645 South 200 East, Suite 310, Salt Lake City, UT 84111, no later than Monday, January 16, 2006.

Commission Elections for 3rd, 4th & 5th Divisions.

Nominations to the office of Bar Commission are hereby solicited for two members from the Third Division, one member from the Fourth Division and one member from the Fifth Division, each to serve a three-year term. To be eligible for the office of Commissioner from a division, the nominee's mailing address must be in that division as shown by the records of the Bar. Completed petitions for nominations must be received by February 10, 2006. For more information, pleased contact Maud Thurman at maud.thurman@utahbar.org or call (801) 297-7031.

Notice of Direct Election of Bar President.

Any active member in good standing may petition to run for Bar President. Interested candidates need to submit a letter of interest by January 2, 2006. The Bar Commission will interview the candidates and select two to run in the general election in April. The election winner will be seated as the President-Elect in July, serve one year in that capacity, and then serve the following year as Bar President. Utah State Law Library Online Catalog

Ever wondered what books are available at the Utah State Law Library? Law library staff have finished an ambitious project to catalog the entire collection into a searchable database of more than 3,000 titles and 45,000 volumes. You can search the catalog at www.utcourts.gov/lawlibrary/. While library materials can't be checked out, library staff can fax or mail copies of pages from the books. The catalog also provides links to online resources, when available. More information about the library's document delivery service is available at www.utcourts.gov/lawlibrary/info.asp#delivery.
