Now in its seventh year, this popular seminar will bring you the latest information on important estate planning, elder law, and Medicaid planning techniques and strategies. Topics this year include the right way to designate a trust as the beneficiary of an IRA or 401(k) plan; understanding the fundamentals of asset protection planning - and how asset protection planning differs from Medicaid planning; the taxation of special needs trusts; and what to tell your clients about estate taxes in 2010. Also this year we again present our popular interactive ethics presentation; discuss the pros and cons of joining a national estate planning network; and provide an update of important developments in elder law and Medicaid planning.
Presenters this year include Brad Frigon, one of the nation’s top elder law and special needs trusts attorneys. Brad is a co-author of the recently published Fundamentals of Special Needs Trusts (Matthew Bender 2009). Additional presenters include prominent local attorneys Calvin Curtis (Program Chair), Melody Seal, Rock Allen and Troy Wilson.
Our past two seminars have averaged more than 60 attendees. A number of your colleagues have described the seminar as one you “must attend”, and one recent attendee described it as the “best estate planning seminar out there.” All of the speakers present in an open, informal style, welcome your questions, and work hard to make sure you understand the subject matter presented.
We hope you plan to join us on December 10, 2009! This valuable seminar is co-sponsored by the Utah State Bar, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Estate Planning System and Real Probate System.
Providing sound advice to your clients becomes more confusing and complicated each year. This year’s seminar covers four important and timely subjects: the right way to designate a trust as the beneficiary of an IRA or 401(k) plan; the fundamentals of asset protection planning - and how that planning differs from Medicaid planning; the taxation of special needs trusts; and what to tell your clients about estate taxes in 2010. This year’s seminar also includes our popular interactive ethics presentation, a discussion of the pros and cons of joining a national estate planning network, and an update of recent developments in elder law and Medicaid planning.
Our primary presenter this year is Bradley J. Frigon, one of the nation’s top elder law attorneys, practicing in Denver, Colorado. Brad is a board member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), and chair of the Programs and Education Committee for NAELA. He is also a board member of the Special Needs Alliance. Brad is a co-author of the Fundamentals of Special Needs Trusts (Matthew Bender 2009). Additional presenters include three of Utah’s leading elder law attorneys, Calvin Curtis, Melody Seal, and Troy Wilson, and prominent Northern Utah estate planning attorney, Rock Allen.
This seminar has been approved for 6 hours of CLE credit, including 1 hour of ethics credit. A course manual, continental breakfast, refreshment break and lunch will all be provided. Come learn important tips and techniques to improve your estate planning practice!
Topics to include: "Medicaid and Estate Planning Update", "What You Must Know About Asset Protection", and "Effective Retirement Plan and IRA Beneficiary Designations".
