The Judicial Council's Standing Committee on Court Interpreters requests applications for membership from criminal defense attorneys. The Court Interpreter Committee is charged with (a) researching, developing, and recommending policies and procedures for interpretation and translation; (b) certifying court interpreters who meet minimum qualifications; (c) issuing opinions to questions regarding the Code of Professional Responsibility; and (d) disciplining court interpreters. While not a requisite, bilingualism and experience in working with court interpreters are preferred abilities for members of this Committee. Please send a letter of interest and a brief resume to the following address by November 30, 2005:
